Grand Theft Auto online: an ambitious multiplayer game

Grand Theft Auto Online is a multiplayer online video game set in the universe of GTA 5. Developed by Rockstar, this new installment of the franchise takes us once again to the chaotic city of Los Santos, although this time the protagonists will not be Franklin, Trevor, or Michael, but ourselves. GTA Online is much more than an online game, it's a really fun sandbox game where we can unleash our rogue selves.

While GTA Online was created as an option within GTA V, this version has reached such a large amount of content and followers that it has emancipated from the original, championing its own name and identity. Although Rockstar has tried to repeat its success with Red Dead Online, Red Dead Redemption II hasn't been as popular among its followers as this crazy crime theme park. Would you like to know what makes it so unique?

Become the main character of your own GTA

GTA Online is the dream of every lover of Rockstar's crime franchise. Have you ever imagined becoming CJ from San Andreas or becoming Nico Bellic from GTA 4? This is your chance. Grand Theft Auto Online borrows the best of each installment of the saga, combining it in an adventure where the main character is you. Although this is the premise that most online multiplayer games promise, almost none of them manage to achieve it. That this is exactly what GTA Online has to offer.

Just by starting the game, you will be able to create your own crime avatar. As usual in titles like this, the character creator of GTA Online is very complete. We can choose the gender of our character, its physical features, its clothing, and add points to our skills. But that's not all: the game also offers the possibility of altering our image through the "Origins" option, which allows us to define our parents and how much we have genetically inherited from them.

After creating your character, you will be transferred to the suburbs of Los Santos, where with hardly any money you will need to start doing "little jobs" to make a living, amass a fortune and become the new king of crime. But... How to do it? This is where your imagination comes into play, as in GTA Online anything goes and the only limit is your imagination (and your Internet connection, of course).

Endless activities to play alone or with your gang

GTA Online is a game where you will not have time to get bored, although yes, surely it will cost you to decide what to do, since the possibilities are overwhelming. The game has a large number of game modes in which you can earn money and reputation, both alone and with your friends or your gang of thugs. And thanks to The Crew, you can create your own group of scoundrels to carry out the most epic robberies of all GTA.

Among the main activities found in GTA Online we highlight the following:

  • Missions- Granted by the characters of GTA 5 and very similar to those found in the original title.
  • Ethnicities- The game has 13 different types of ethnicities, where finishing first is the only option.
  • Deathmatches- Clashes against a rival, either 1v1 or between two groups.
  • Last Team Standing- A Battle Royale in the heart of GTA (ideal if you like Fortnite).
  • Captures- An extreme version of Catch the Flag.
  • Survival- A horde mode where we will have to overcome waves of enemies.
  • Strikes- Undoubtedly the jewel in the crown of GTA Online. Organize robberies with friends in the purest Ocean's Eleven style.
  • Adversary Mode- Complete missions competing against another player.
  • Skydiving- Do you like free fall? You will love this mode. You will have to jump from a plane, glide through the targets, and land in the right place.

But obviously, this is only the tip of the iceberg of GTA Online. And the game allows you to create your own customized activities, so there is no limit to the fun. But is it necessary to participate in these missions to have fun? Absolutely not. Grand Theft Auto Online allows you to cause all kinds of havoc in Los Santos to relax with its mini-games, decorate a house or get all kinds of vehicles, weapons, and clothes.

Ideal for playing with friends

Grand Theft Auto Online is a particularly fun online multiplayer game. It allows a total of up to 30 players and 2 spectators on the same server, thus avoiding the avalanches of players that not only end the immersion in the game but also its stability. Although the title can be played alone, we strongly recommend connecting with a group of friends. GTA Online has been designed as a playground in which, just like Franklin, Michael, and Trevor, we will join to become the most powerful of Los Santos.

A lot of new features thanks to its updates

One of the strong points of GTA Online is that, despite the fact that the game was launched in 2013, it is still as fresh and new as the first day. What is its secret? Very simple. The care with which Rockstar releases free DLCs every few months with new missions, activities, vehicles, and objects. Throughout these years we have seen everything, including the appearance of the MOTOMAMI radio presented by Rosalia herself in the update The Contract. And the updates don't stop coming. The latest to be released is Los Santos Drug Wars, where, in the purest Breaking Bad style, we will be able to build our own empire selling narcotics.

Fame is hard to come by

Despite all the good things, Grand Theft Auto Online also has its dark side, and this comes in the form of much-hated microtransactions. The game allows users to exchange real money for in-game money through a system of micropayments. Although these are not obligatory, they do make the game a great deal more difficult to obtain money and fame. In the long run, this makes it impossible for a player with little patience and time to advance without forking out some money.

A must-have for GTA lovers

GTA Online is the ultimate Grand Theft Auto experience and unprecedented fun for all of us anxiously awaiting a release date for GTA 6. The game has absolutely everything to keep us entertained for years to come, as thanks to Rockstar's constant updates it always feels like a brand-new title. Despite its micropayment system, it's a must-have for each and every one of the franchise's fans - don't miss it!
